When I met Brandon and Belinda from Merak, they sent me their track "Symmetry of Chaos," and I immediately knew I wanted to create a music video for it. I had a bunch of footage I’d shot over the years, focusing on natural textures like light patterns on water, sand patterns and waves. My idea was to use digital effects to play around with these natural designs, adding mirrors and kaleidoscope effects to visually represent the song's theme of finding symmetry in chaos.
There's a scene before the breakdown featuring my friend Uttaran dancing on the Dona Paula piers. It was unplanned—we were there chasing a storm, and I just asked him to dance. It turned out to be a perfect fit for the video, adding a unique moment that aligned with the song's vibe.
Including Brandon and Belinda in the video was important, but I wanted to avoid the usual band-playing style of footage. Instead, I filmed them playing their instruments and then applied the same kaleidoscopic effects to their shots, blending them into the video’s overall aesthetic.
I shot everything on a Pixel 6a and edited on the free version of DaVinci Resolve, sticking to locations around Goa to honor the band’s roots. The video needed to match the song's energy, especially during the fast-paced breakdown. I made sure the edits were tight, syncing perfectly with the music to create a distinct 'texture' that viewers could almost feel.

Working on this video was an incredible experience. It was all about collaboration, experimenting with visuals and edits to match the music, and paying tribute to Goa. I’m really thankful for the opportunity to work with such talented people and to create something that we're all proud of.
